Fort Bragg, North Carolina: The 4th Psychological Operations-Airborne, or 4th PSYOP, is the group that specializes in “using the power of the mind to persuade opinion and discourse” – it recently released a curious recruitment video. The video informs us that “Words are weapons… This is psychological warfare.” And it added, “We are everywhere.” There are surprises and subliminal messaging that include references to conspiracy theories, the “Ghost Army” that deceived the Nazi generals in WWII, and the popular Pepe the Frog meme popular with right-wing groups that shows up in a clown suit. At one point, the phrase “anything we touch is a weapon” flashes and fades.
We have also included articles about past controversies coming out of Fort Bragg that include Emily Rainey, an Army psychological warfare officer who allegedly bussed people more than 300 miles to attend the Trump rally on January 6, 2021; The rash of deaths from 2020-2021 and drug trafficking at Fort Bragg; and the murder of four military wives at the base over a period of six weeks in 2002.
